FAQ’s !

How do I clean my denture?

Never use toothpaste to clean a denture as it is abrasive. Use soap and water and a "soft" denture brush to clean twice a day.

Can I wear my dentures to sleep?

It is best to take your dentures out at night and leave them in water or soak in Polident to stop them from drying out. Leaving dentures out at night also gives your mouth a rest, and prevents the development of oral infections as less saliva is produced at night.

What happens if I leave my dentures in all the time?

It is possible to harm your oral health if you leave your dentures in for a long time. Plaque is more likely to accumulate on the dentures and tongues of people who wear dentures all night long. You are more prone to gum disease, oral thrush, and bone loss if you wear your dentures for a long period without removing them.

How many hours a day should I wear my dentures?

Generally, you should wear your dentures for at least 8 hours a day. This will give your gums and jawbone time to get used to the dentures and prevent sore spots from developing. It is best to take them out at night so that your gums can rest. You should also remove them for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing.

What should I expect when wearing dentures for the first time?

It's common to develop sore spots as dentures "settle in", and you could also have more saliva. Many people need to return to the clinic for a quick visit to have their new dentures adjusted.

How long does it take to talk normally after getting dentures?

Some people don't have any issues, and some people take a little longer to get used to wearing new dentures. Generally, a simple way to improve speech with a new denture is to read a book out loud or talk more.
